Project Spotlight

When the Air Force decided to upgrade its aging C-5 Galaxy fleet of aircraft with new engines, avionics and other critical systems, it became clear to Air Mobility Command’s senior leadership that the ragged airplane upholstery and interiors also needed to be brought back to life.

In October of 2011, the first C-5M Super Galaxy –  aptly named the “Spirit of Old Glory” – was flown to New York’s Stewart Air National Guard Base, where it would undergo an amazing transformation by Team Stewart and Team First State Manufacturing. Months earlier, Team FSM met with some of the Air Force’s best men and women to strategize timelines for supplies, equipment and the enormous aircraft upholstery production project that would take a mere 27 days to complete .

World’s Greatest

This video highlights a segment by ION Network featuring First State Manufacturing as a standout in the manufacturing industry in their World’s Greatest TV series. FSM caught the eye of ION Network when, in a struggling economy, unlike many other businesses were expanding their business including facilities and personnel. They traveled to the plant to capture what was happening so they could share it with the world.
